My Story ✨

I have always been a creator at heart, Ever since I was a little girl I loved cakes and baking and dreamed of owning my own cake shop/cafe one day. It wasn't until my mid 20's after returning from yet ANOTHER South East Asia trip, I decided to follow my passion. I taught myself to bake, and soon after, I started a market stall in Camden called Utterly Baked. It was an exhausting six months—baking all night and selling all day. I grafted for 6 months, some days hardly making a profit. I’d had a taste for running my own business, but I wanted to deepen my knowledge and expand my skills. I joined a top bakery in London, where I stayed for nearly six years. I honed my craft, learned how to decorate cakes beautifully, and became confident in my skills. But deep down, I knew I wanted more than a paycheck. There came a point where I didn’t want to wake up at 5am any more to go and fund someone else’s dream, I wanted to create my own.

I wanted the freedom to create my own vision, to design products I was passionate about, and to experience the full reward of my labor. I’ve always been driven to be my own boss, and this dream pushed me to take a huge leap—starting my own business, despite having zero business experience. It was terrifying!

Being a chocolate lover, and having given up dairy back in 2011 for health reasons, I realized there was a gap in the market for indulgent, vegan chocolate. I wanted to create something so delicious, no one would know it was vegan. After countless hours of experimenting in my kitchen, something amazing happened—I created my first product, and it was pure peanutty magic! I created what would become my signature treat: Vegan Snickers Bars AKA Peanut Nougat Bars. A layer of thick peanut nougat with a salted date caramel, coated in thick dark chocolate. They tasted incredible AND aligned with my values. People loved them so much that I was getting weekly wholesale orders from a local café, and the best part was being recognized as the vegan Snickers lady!

That’s when I knew I was onto something. In February 2020, I decided to take the plunge and launch Oh My Choc full-time. It was my leap from the known into the unknown, from the comfort of side projects and small steps to fully embracing the world of entrepreneurship. This wasn’t just about making chocolate—it was about stepping into an entirely new chapter where the stakes were higher and the challenges much bigger.

But I didn’t do it alone! Along the way, I leaned on a community of other food entrepreneurs and influencers who had taken this leap before me. Their stories, advice, encouragement, and their struggles reminded me that the journey is always better when shared with others. It became clear that community was key—it gave me the strength to keep pushing forward.

Hiring business mentors during this time was also a game-changer. Working with coaches helped me overcome obstacles I didn’t even know existed. They showed me how to condense what might have taken me years of trial and error into a focused, strategic plan. The accountability they provided kept me moving forward, even on days when I doubted myself or felt overwhelmed. They kept me focused, reminded me of my goals when I wanted to give up, and helped me make the decisions that pushed Oh My Choc to the next level. Without their support, I might have let fear or uncertainty keep me from pursuing the full potential of my business.

Of course, there were moments of temptation—times when the path seemed too hard, when I wanted to throw in the towel or scale back to something easier. I remember the market days where I barely broke even, or the day where my stock all blew away in the wind! There was the pressure of uncertainty, the fear of failure—it’s easy to feel like quitting when the unknown feels overwhelming. But each time I felt that urge, I remembered why I started: to bring something unique and meaningful to the world, and to create a business I could be proud of. And so, I pushed through, driven by the passion that started it all.

Despite the challenges of lockdown, my Instagram following grew, and I began collaborating with influencers in the vegan food scene. One particular collaboration changed everything—I was flooded with orders. I was posting them out by hand at first, and the response was overwhelming. I invested in professional branding, spending months perfecting everything from packaging to my product lineup. When the shops reopened, I wanted to get my bars onto retail shelves. It wasn’t easy and navigating this world was a whole new ball game. From barcodes and shelf life testing to ingredient lists and branding, there were endless details to figure out. It took months longer than expected, but I finally launched our Tiffin bars into retail stores across London.

Oh My Choc is thriving today with multiple income streams, reaching a wide variety of customers. We have bars in retail shops, zero-waste stores, and cafes, plus a growing number of online orders. This journey wasn’t just business growth—it was personal. I had to evolve from “baker” to “CEO,” stepping out of the comfort of the kitchen and embracing a leadership role.

This transformation didn’t happen overnight. I faced challenges, made tough choices, and let go of the familiar. But in doing so, I gained the confidence to expand my business and discovered a passion for helping others do the same. Today, I offer digital products, eBooks, and courses, reflecting my journey from baker to CEO, and now, mentor and coach. My goal? To guide others through their own leap—from food business owner to empowered entrepreneur.
